more inspiration

This past weekend I volunteered at the Twin Lake triathlon. I helped out on boat duty and got my eyes opened. If I thought doing a tri would be easy, I was wrong!!! Watching these very dedicated athletes struggle in the water actually fueled my interest and excitement.

I've changed my entry for the Chicago Tri from the Olympic distance to the Fleet Feet Super Sprint. It's a much more manageable distance for someone who hasn't has the luxury of working out a lot. I'm looking forward to it!

Commit to Tri

Now that I've had some time to process the number of days left, I want to commit myself to doing the Chicago Tri! I'm not sure how or when I'm going to get the right workouts in but I really, really, really feel like it's important for me to do it. It's tough working full-time an hour-plus each way from home, being a good parent, a good spouse, a PhD candidate, and getting intense workouts in. I think I'll take this weekend to mull things over and devise a plan that includes Drea's workout in it.

lotsa time

So, I looked at the calendar and realized that there are about 12 weeks until the Chicago Triathlon. Got me thinkin', can I do it? There should be plenty of time to get there. I want to. The question is, can I get enough workout time in? There truly aren't enough hours in the day. Guess I have to re-prioritize. If I want this to happen, I have to MAKE it happen!

On the right track...finally

It's been a challenge to get to where I am today. I'm not ready to do any triathlons at this point but I haven't given up the dream. My achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciatis have plagued my in the last few months. I had to quit the "spin" class I was in, I've gotten accupuncture, but it's still there. I have though, started getting things together. I ride my bicycle to the train everyday (even though it's just a mile and a half each way, and I walk from the train to/from work. It probably isn't much, but altogether I'm getting 45 mins. to an hour each day.

I'm still planning on doing the Danskin/Sherox women's tri in September and I'd like to partake in some of the Chicago tri activities since it's a weekend long event. The trouble I'm having is finiding time to get a good, long, uninterrupted workout in. Mornings don't work, evenings are spread too thin already. I could go at lunch time but it'd only be for 30 mins and it just doesn't seem worth the effort. Hrmph! I'm stumped!

At least I'm heading in the right direction. I want to be a fit mom to my kids. That's the most important thing!
